Arts and Aesthetics: Dance Lecture Response
Last week’s class really helped put a lot of things in a new perspective than before. The fact that dance, is not only Biblical, but is more like a command, really struck me. However, it is very disheartening to hear that a lot of Christians are branding it worldly and pushing it out of their lives, when God commands us to utilize it in worship to him. Many Christians have a mindset hard-wired into their brains, and seldom step out far enough to realize that God created everything that exists, and gave us every ability that we have, so that we can bring glory to him. They don’t put aside their opinions long enough to see that even though the world has taken dance and made it the icons of sinful things, God wants us to take that back and use it for the Lord instead of for entertainment or personal interests.
It is a sad thing that many leaders of the church in the past are to blame for condemning dance in the church. People often like to take matters into their own hands and ban or encourage certain things according to what they “think” is what God would be happy with. In their attempt to create order, the church started to make dance a ritual, as well as only allowing the clergy to dance. Church became dull and solemn. Whatever happened to all the rejoicing, dancing and singing praise that the Bible talked about? As the church backed farther away from dance, the world started using it more and more in performance and entertainment. The vicious cycle went on for a while before the church decided to ban dance altogether because it is now affiliated with showing off the body, sex, and other sinful things of the world.
That is not at all what God created dance for. God intended for it to be another way we can express our love, honour and submission to him, beyond music and words. It is a way for us to worship him with all our body and strength. Physical movement also has a special effect of creating unity among a body of people as they move in unison. This is why sometimes, it is appropriate for the church to dance or do prophetic actions together in order to reach a sort of unity in the body. I personally think that this is connected to the fact that physical movement helps us remember things better. If we do a movement with important things we are learning and declaring in the church, the movement will resound much stronger than just a thought.

Rage
Assholes like this just piss me off.
This makes me so mad. We’re not supposed to hate people and tell them to die. I’m pretty sure we learned that when we were like, 4.
I was reading that Christians are known more for what we supposedly hate rather than what we love, and this pretty much proves that right.
ughsdjsf learn how to love people
I think that hating gay marriage is like hating interracial marriage. And wouldn’t someone get crap for that.yes we shouldn’t hate them. BUT, we shouldn’t love their sin either. Accepting them “for who they are”, sin and all = loving them while they are wallowing in their sins. So I think we have to strike a balance here. We have to accept the person that was created in God’s image, but we should hate the sin and pray for the person/ask God for wisdom to help them walk out of the sins that they are in. The solution is not telling them to die, nor is it accepting them in their sinful state, but rather we should help them to do what is right.
The law of the Old Testament tells us that homosexuality is wrong, and that anyone who commits it should die. However, that’s what the law is for. The law tells us what is right and what is wrong! But if that’s so, then all is lost!! Each of us must die! No, that’s where Jesus’ death on the cross and God’s grace comes in! The O.T. law says gay people should die, yet through Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice, gays only have to repent, and be willing to turn from their sins, and God will pour out his grace on them, forgive them, and help them to stop sinning. So instead of the two extremes arguing to accept or to kill the gays, let’s accept their person, but hate their sin. Instead of trying to make pointless points through our tumblr or msn conversations, let’s not waste that time and spend it to pray for the gay people, yeah?
alternatively, you could let gay people live their life, because they do not want your religious beliefs forced onto them.
I would. Except this isn’t just a religious belief. If it were, I wouldn’t care less whether you wanna be gay or have sex with a beast. However, many people do not understand how it really all works. Let me explain:
If a friend of yours told you that he wanted to jump off a 100 story building just to “have fun” and “try it out”, claiming that it surely will not affect him in any harmful way, would you let him? Obviously not, cause there exists the law of gravity, and it is proven that a human being jumping off a 100 story building will most likely result in death due to the pull of gravity, correct? In the same way, becoming gay is like wanting to jump off 100 stories. Just as man was not meant to fly or jump off tall buildings unharmed, man was made to have sex with humans only, and with the opposite sex only. But when we try to defy this law, thinking that we can emerge unharmed, that’s where we are terribly wrong. Homosexuality will result in sexual diseases, decrease in human population, and mental problems, NOT because Christians said they would, but because the very law of nature is so! God created everything to work and function a certain way, but when people start doing things that are against the very nature of it, they will have to suffer the consequences.
I personally do not take the time to write all these paragraphs cause I hate homosexual people or don’t accept them. I am only in distress because I love them as human beings created in God’s image, and I know that if he/she metaphorically jumps off the 100 story building, he WILL get hurt, period! So I plead with you, stop ignoring the fact that these people are taking a downhill path and start PRAYING for them!!! If you don’t like religion, and you don’t like what I’m saying, then I’m sorry, but I have to say it because it is true. I say this out of love, because I want you to become aware of this and know what you’re really up against. And as for a solution? Like I said in my first reblog, love the person, not the sin, and pray hard for them. That’s what I believe to be the only right solution.
